MS Excel Basic Course Overview

What will you learn when you enroll for MS Excel Basic Microsoft Office Application? We will teach you the following to become familiar with what MS Excel does for computer users. After completing the course you will learn that we use Excel to produce budgets, business profit and lose analysis sheet and present graphs and data that give businesses an eye view of their finances.

In the course which will take about two (2) days in total you will be exposed to the fundamental information that will help you find your way around Excel Office Application. You will know how to:
What Will You Learn When You Enroll For This Course
  • You will start Excel and identify the components of the Excel user interface, open an Excel workbook; and be able to use the Help window and navigate the workbook pages.
  • You will learn how to enter data in cells and modify, resize, format and replace. You will enter formulas to add and multiply numbers in columns, add using auto-sum. Use auto fill, save and update your document.
  • You will learn how to use “Sum” functions, AutoSum, and the Average, Min, Max, Count and Counta functions to perform calculations in a worksheet.
  • You will be able to check spelling, find and replace text, preview and print your worksheet; set page orientation and margins, and also create and format headers and footers before you do your final printing.
  • You will learn how to move, copy data and formulas, use the Office Clipboard, use Paste Link function, work with relative and absolute references, insert and delete ranges and rows.
  • Create graphs within cells by applying three forms of conditional formatting – through (data bars, color scales and icon set). Insert and modify SmartArt graphics and insert and modify screenshots.
Overview Summary
This is just part of the overview of what you can do with MS Excel when you enroll and begin to gain more control and understanding how to use this application in the office environment, or for personal use. This course has 9 modules which we cover in a period of 2 days in succession.

It is imperative that our student’s plan the two days and complete it as suggested in order to derive the maximum benefits of the course. This course is instructor lead course; therefore your instructor will guide you all the way from the start to the finish. You have the opportunity to interact with other students and ask question when you do not understand a concept.

Laptop Requirements
As we have mentioned earlier in the posts on this blog, we encourage our students to have an installation of Microsoft Office Applications installed before they can undertake to book our classes for this course.

Student Competency Requirements
To be accepted for this course you must be able to read and write and have at least a Matric is possible. You will be doing practice exercises in the classroom and this requires a basic ABET certification and typing skills or QWERTY Keyboard proficiency.

Students for this course should have a little background in numeracy and working with calculation and understanding Maths in respect to Additions (+), Subtraction (-), Multiplication (*) as well as Division (/) . These symbols and Excel forms the basis of the power of the spreadsheet to produce budgets, and complex graphs and data for business analysis and calculations.
